Rory and I had a great road trip to Georgetown for one of my dear friends Baby Showers and my sweet nephew's Birthday party!! It was a fun trip!! We stayed with my mom one night (and snuck in some Tres Amigos) and my Dad another night! Rory and I both love being around our families....we did miss Daddy..but glad he had a nice relaxing weekend...he deserves it! I enjoyed his blog entries and it was nice to know we were missed!! Love you Babe!

Day 2

The second day of my weekend alone started at 4:50 this morning, I slept well but having Layla in the bed with me can wake me a couple of times in the night; she has the "jimmy arms" but Lacey has the "jimmy legs" so really I am used to it (I'll change the sheets before your return home babe).

I usually can't make coffee in my coffee press because of the noise from the coffee grinder, I don't want to wake the wee one or the wife when they are sleeping. So I enjoyed some fresh ground and pressed coffee, had some breakfast, fed the dogs, and made my way to the golf course for the morning. It was chilly, windy morning; I took care of things at the course and thought a second cup of coffee would be good to warm back up from the winds at the "el campo" (spanish for "the course", this is how I refer to the golf course).

Unfortunately the second cup was too much. A little later in the morning, I was changing for church and I didn't feel so good. I had taken in too much caffeine. I don't need the caffieine, I'm not really a tired individual, I just like coffee, and when I add caffeine I talk quick and often. I also kind of shake a little, this morning for some reason I was shaking like Gene Wilder's shooting hand as the "Waco Kid".

I made it home from work, had some lunch, and continued with my " WWMHWM To do" list. ( If you recall from day 1 the WWMHWM stands for What Would My Honey Want Me To Do List). I threw together one of my incredible turkery sangwich's, but thought I would change things up a bit; since I had one yesterday... I toasted the bread! Also, since it was Super Bowl Sunday I added a second slice of cheese.

I continued on with my list and changed some light bulbs, air filters, and did a few more loads of laundry. Really today was less eventful than yesterday; that and I feel like I have writer's block compared to yesterday. The brilliance was just flowing like when John Henson was the host of E's Talk Soup; really I am just trying to get to tonight's superbowl. I am ready for the night to pass, get home from work, and see the two lovely ladies in my life when I get home tomorrow.

Greg's Weekend at Home

With Lacey and Rory in Austin this weekend for a baby shower and a birthday, I thought I would hi-jack the blog and share my bachelor weekend here in Fort Worth. I had to stay behind for work this weekend, but even with work I had some time on my hands. I fully expected to come home and find a "Honey Do List" however, I was wrong, the counter top was empty, a list I did not see. What was a guy to do to pass the time and get me to the Superbowl on Sunday. So here it goes, a day by day literary journey through my solo weekend leading up to one of the best sporting events of the year...the Super Bowl.

Day One

Saturday morning I finished up at the golf course and took Layla "the wonder pup" for a run at my local trail on the northwest side of Lake Grapevine. I have been wanting to get a bike ride in but with Friday's rain the trails were closed to bike traffic so I took advantage and went for a long run. I got home that afternoon to an awkwardly silent and empty house. I am used to my little chica greeting me with a big smile at the window when I open the garage and pull into the drive. I became sad and started right then to miss my girls. Toby didn't even get off the couch to say hello when I walked through the door. It quickly set in, it was going to be a quiet weekend at the hacienda for ol' dad.

I went for the kitchen to put together my specialty...a sandwich! I added a side of salt and vinegar chips and a glass of water. I made my way to the living room to watch some golf at TPC Scottsdale and caught the end of the Vandy vs. Florida game before golf tournament coverage started..." oh nice, score a little round ball before golf " I said out loud to the Tobes! He stared at me oddly and put his head back down on the couch. I enjoyed my Turkey sandwich and took in some golf before going out to give Layla a bath. As I referenced earlier in this weekend chronicle there was some rain on Friday, which equals muddy and wet trails, thus equals muddy and wet dog. "The wonder pup" was now clean and I had an urge to clean and organize the garage. I swept, rinsed my duck waders, stored my duck hunting gear for the year, and re-organized my work bench. Already I was bored and needed something to do. I knew in the back of my mind that cleaning the garage was the last thing Lacey would have me do, so I finished up and went inside and created a "What would my honey want me to do List. Change light bulbs, laundry, and clean the house, this was all I really could come up with. As I wrote this list the ESPN ring tone went off on my phone reminding me that the Ags were playing, so the list got put on hold for a few hours.

I got started with some laundry and started to add some things in my mind to the to do list for the weekend. I changed out dead batteries on some of Rory's bath toys and took care of few other little tasks, this included putting away some Christmas ornaments that were left in our office to this day.

As I waited on a load of laundry I decided to enjoy some television viewing. I had a few hours of Alaska: The Last Frontier (my new favorite show) I needed to catch up on. As I was taking in the Last Frontier I thought a picture taken of Lacey's house shoe Uggs I was wearing would be funny. I took the picture and this is where the idea of me taking random pictures (showing off my crazy good iPhone photog skillz) and taking over the blog for the weekend was a good idea. Side note, I am wearing Lacey's Uggs in honor of Tom Brady, the spokesperson for Ugg's for men. The Pats by the way are my pick for the big game tomorrow night. Any way back on track, not sure if I mentioned it but Alaska: The Last Frontier is my current Discovery Channel obsession. It was formerly Flying Wild Alaska, I had a few of those recorded as well so I took advantage. Laundry is really the only thing on my "To Do" list that I can multi-task and watch some shows as well.

Dishes, done!

For dinner I enjoyed a supreme pizza and a Real Ale Lost Gold IPA, very tasty. As I sat at the table alone and partook, I felt like Macaulay Culkin in Home Alone having a Mac and cheese dinner at the table before the robbers made their way into his house on Christmas eve. Most things I do make me think of movie scenes where I am doing something similar or also Seinfeld episodes. That and I can quote movies or shows like crazy, to this day I wish I could use this talent to do some good, but I haven't figured that out yet. Don't know why this is, but it is. Perhaps I watch too many movies or TV, either way, just a little insight on me and how weird I can be (and what Lacey has to deal with on a day to day basis).

I got some laundry done, caught up on some recordings on the digital video recorder, had some dinner, a couple of IPA's, put the dishes in the dishwasher, and even took in the second half of the Kansas vs. Mizzou "Border War" game. All in all a pretty productive day. Look for Day 2 happenings to see how I pass the time waiting for my girls to come home. I can't wait until Monday afternoon to see my beautiful wife and "my little sweets" Rory. I miss you guys and it just isn't the same around here without you. Love you and miss you, good night.

We had a fun afternoon at the STOCK show today!! It was so neat and Rory had so much fun seeing all the farm animals we talk about everyday. Mommy and Daddy had a great time too!!

*Today I realized I may have become afraid of heights in my recent years. I almost had an anxiety attack at the top of the Ferris wheel when it stopped for a little over a minute. I just pictured us all plummeting to our deaths. A little dramatic...i know. But there weren't any safety belts and the little doors were flapping open and then Rory began squirming...and my mind started to wonder to dark places. As I began doing breathing exercises Greg said,"I don't think you thought this through." (of course he said this with a smile on his face..he enjoyed it but he was right!)

We had a great weekend at the Bolline's House in College Station!! So much fun and Rory had a blast. We had fun grilling burgers, Wings N More, and playing outside most of the weekend. The boys were hunting at the Ranch all day Saturday so we took the kids to McDonald's for milkshakes and then to the park. It was so much fun and Rory had such a great time being around the Bolline boys and Baby Mason. On the way home we said,"Did you have fun with Adam and Andrew?" and she began smiling/squealing as loud as she could. so cute!! We topped of the great weekend by going home through Dallas and stopping by In-N-OUT burgers for lunch!! Delicious!! Thank you Lindsey and Kenny for hosting us!! We love coming to visit. :)

Rory and I went to the Senior Center on Saturday AM...this is the only pic I could get. Rory was not in a social mood and did not want to leave my lap. There was a special treat, a Dance Troupe came to preform for the Seniors and Rory loved it!! After we enjoyed the entertainment, we played "cards" with the Seniors and then delivered a few meals. I think Rory may follow in her Auntie Linds footsteps and take up dance! Wink Wink!

We had a busy weekend! Friday night Greg's boss Brandon invited us over for dinner. They had Mi Chula's catered and we all had a delicious dinner by the fire pit. They have four sweet kiddos who entertained Miss Rory Grace! Beau (his wife Christen, and their baby Harper), and Brock also came over! They also work at Vaquero. It was a fun family night and Rory loved the trampoline and Baby Harper. :) Rory and I went to the Senior Center Saturday morning while Daddy was at work. When he got home we met the Snyder's for an early dinner at Central Market. Colton and Rory loved playing on the playground! We then went to one of my favorite places in the world YOGURTLAND! Deliciousness!

This morning Rory and I went to Church...and this afternoon my wonderful husband is going to watch Rory while I meet Amanda for the Academy Award Nominee movie...Joyful Noise. That's right I am not afraid to admit it....i love a good Queen Latifah movie! Have you seen Last Holiday? And you know I will be singing in the aisle's like I did when I saw Sister Act 2! :)

Date Night with The Whitehead's

On Wednesday night we had a great date night at Joe T. Garcia's in the Stockyards with the Whithead's! We had so much fun. Matt went to high school with Greg and I and at our high school reunion two summers ago Maren and I really hit it off. We finally decided to get together and we are so glad we did! We will have to make sure we get together more often! Of course all we did was talk about our kiddos, but that's what stay at home mommies do! :) Thank you Nana for taking care of Rory. :)

Milestone Church---Saving my Sanity once a Week

I am always trying to find "free" things to do with my little peanut during the week! We are quite busy with MOPS, Little Sprouts, and the library. But there are some days where I need to entertain Miss Rory so we head to Milestone Church (I found this wonderful place through MOPS). They have a three story jungle gym that is open to the public Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. We usually go once a week...and Rory loves it! There are lots of kids there...all running around like maniacs! Rory is in heaven. It also makes me feel better because there are always kids having meltdowns. (I'm not the only one...ha ha.) We usually stay for a couple hours and then Rory sleeps like a little baby at nap time! Thank you Milestone Church! :)

I have never met Courtney (mom) but came to know her and Tripp through pics and stories. Greg went hunting this weekend with my Dad and Brother...he left Thursday. Rory and I had MOPS on Friday and Aunt Reagan came up to visit Friday afternoon!! We enjoyed going to the park, taking walks, Target, Crazy 8's, Walmart, Sam Moon, and Kincaid Hamburgers. It was a nice weekend! Jamie also came over and we had some fun girl time!! Thank you Auntie Reagan. She also played with Rory in the backyard so I could mop/clean the floors. It is amazing how much cleaning you can get done in such a short time when a little toddler isn't following behind. :) We had a great time with Auntie Reagan and Aunt Jamie, but we are ready to see Daddy this afternoon! He killed a coyote and a javelina, but no deer! Rory will be happy about that since we have been watching PRANCER all weekend. I don't know how she is going to feel when she is a little older about all this hunting.

Potty Training

We have introduced Rory to the whole "big girl potty." We don't want to push to soon, but she seems to be enjoying it. For about an hour a day (after she has done the #2..i don't want to clean that mess up) we put her little undies on and set a timer every 10 minutes we take her to the Tinkerbell toilet and she sits on it and we encourage the #1. We only do this for an hour because by the last 10 minutes she is buckling her legs and squealing...i think she is thinking.."We are doing this again?"

She hasn't gone to the bathroom in the Tinkerbell toilet yet...but she also hasn't had any accidents within those training hours. That's a start!! I try to keep her on the hard wood floors as much as I can when she has those ADORABLE little undies on.

She has mastered the concept of "wiping" and uses a roll of toilet paper within a couple of days! She peels the toilet paper from the roll, wipes, says EEEWW!, throws it in the trash, grabs another piece, and the cycle continues. Hey...she can do whatever she wants as long as her toosh is on the toilet. :)

I am sure everyone wants to know about these wonderful little details!! ENJOY!

New Year's Resolutions :)

The nose picking has begun!! Ha Ha. She hasn't officially began "picking" however she likes to rest her finger up there! We are trying not to make it a big deal...because as we all know Rory loves to get a "reaction" out of her Mama and Daddy. As long as that hand isn't going towards the mouth afterwards...we will continue to ignore. :)

My sister, Reagan, called me yesterday and said, "I believe you have been doing something since December 31st..i need to see a blog entry." So we haven't been doing much since the New Year. We are glad to be getting back to our regular schedule and going to Kelli's again!! We missed her and our Little Sprouts friends. And Greg is off this weekend so we are staying home and going to attempt potty training! We shall see how it goes! :)

I do have a few New Year's Resolutions I would like to post....

1) Read my Bible everyday...Sadly I am not consistent with my quiet time. But our church is going to guide us this year to help us accomplish reading the whole Bible. This week is the Book of John. I have my grandfather's old bible...and I think I need a new one because it is difficult to read and I always seem to be asking summarizing the stories to Greg just to make sure I understood the story correctly. (I sometimes read Rory's Children's Bible...he he...now that is more on my level)

2) Pay more attention to Toby and help him loose some LBS. (my poor little guy has been slightly neglected since the arrival of Rory...he eats her scrapes off the floor and doesn't get the walks he needs) OPERATION TOBY!! Is what I call it?

Greg says, "How is Operation Toby going?" aka "Did you walk him today?"

3) More structured meal times for Miss Rory. As we all know I am a "bird feeder" to Rory. I never feel like she is getting enough to eat so I walk around and give her food while she is playing. And sadly whenever she goes to the fridge I give her what she wants...example : cheese...she takes a bite and throws it on the floor. It is very frustrating! We are going to break that habit. The first few days were rough. But now when i say it is time to eat...she runs to the table. And if she doesn't eat at that time she doesn't get to eat till the next time. She will usually eat everything on her plate if she misses a meal.

We both sit at the table for all meals! So far she has been doing great.

My mom bought Greg Robert Earl Keen tickets for Christmas so Thursday night we had a great date night! We enjoyed dinner at Luna De Noche, and then headed to the House of Blues. It was so nice to get away and enjoy a DATE night!! Especially after the few days we had. Rory was supposed to spend the night with Nana and Papa, but we still weren't ready for that after the "scare." So they watched her for a few hours while we went out. Thank you Nana and Papa! We can tell we we are getting "old" because we enjoyed people watching more then the show. Ha Ha! There were a lot of young "frat guys" as Greg says...that were going crazy! It was very humorous!

Before our traumatic day (December 26th) we did have a WONDERFUL Christmas in Azle with Nana, Papa, Linds, Aaron, Grandma, and Grandpa! We enjoyed eating, opening presents, watching basketball (and Prancer), snacking, playing cards and 42, and just enjoying each other's company! It was a great Christmas Day! Thank you Nana and Papa!! Especially Nana for all the cooking and cleaning she did. :) Love yall! Thank you to all the extended Aunts and Uncles and cousins who sent Rory a gift. It was so thoughtful and sweet! She loves them all!

I know everyone knows but I wanted to give a detailed description of the day after Christmas. Greg and I arrived home around noon after spending Christmas in Azle with Nana and Papa. Rory took a great nap and we were all just piddling around in the kitchen (snacking on left over goodies) and Rory was playing on the kitchen floor with Mama's purse. She loves the keys, credit cards, and receipts. Come to find out she also loves the change! I happened to look up and saw she was choking...no noise nothing. The real deal. I immediately began doing the hymlic (I just took my CPR class for Kelli a few weeks ago)...she began somewhat coughing and crying. We were scared, but for the time we were relieved. She was breathing and still clutching a handful of change. However, within the next few minutes she began making a gurgling sound in her throat and began vomiting. We called my dad which I always do when I think something is wrong with Rory. (when she hits her head, fell out of her highchair, or was bitten by Toby) His usual response is, "She will be fine, Lacey. Call me in a bit and let me know how she is doing." However, this time when I told him her symptoms...his response, "Something is lodged in her throat, you need to take her to the ER." My first thought..."What Dad? You always say she will be fine. And she always is." We quickly tried to change her outfit..which was pointless because she kept vomiting.. We put her in the car seat where she projectile vomited the whole way to the ER Alliance. Besides the spit up she has never really thrown up...I began panicking in the car. "Run the red lights! Run them!" I was screaming to Greg in the front seat. Where he calmly looked back, "Calm Down you have to stay calm." However, he finally caved and began honking and running red lights. I believe we ran 4 red lights..which freaks me out a little now, but in the moment I didn't care. Poor Angel was scared/crying the whole time. They took X-rays at ER Alliance... and they kept asking me "Do you know for sure it wasn't a battery?" I knew it wasn't a battery but I began 2nd guessing myself. It was very scary! They missed the picture the first time, and the 2nd time. But the 3rd time they got the picture. A big circle lodged in her throat. Thankfully it was lodged in her esophagus and not her windpipe. That, from what the nurses said, would of been a whole different story. They immediately called Cook's Children FW to come get her in an ambulance. She could not have anything to eat or drink so the whole 20 minutes we were waiting for the ambulance she kept screaming "Juice, Juice!" and reaching for her diaper bag. It was heartbreaking! (she was vomiting this whole time as well) The ambulance arrived and they strapped her to a gurney while she was crying and reaching for Greg and I. AWFUL!! They only let one of us ride. So Greg followed the ambulance in the car while I rode in the front seat. (they made me ride in the front :() I prayed a long and hard prayer..please God let her calm down and be relaxed. My prayers were answered. The EMT's entertained her with bubbles, and she watched The Fox and the Hound. She was quiet the whole ride to Cook's! I am forever grateful to the wonderful EMT's! When we arrived at Cook's they checked her in. She had completely calmed down and when the doctor came in she said, "She looks very relaxed...maybe it has passed to her stomach. Let's take another x-ray." We took another X-ray where she was crying and screaming "MAMA!" another torturous 5 minutes. We went back in the room and watched Polar Express for 20 minutes when the doctor showed us the pic. "It's still there. She has just adjusted to the situation. We are going to book an OR." After we asked a billion questions, she eased our minds, however, Daddy was not happy about putting her under. (he has seen/heard stories) They came in and gave her the IV and she did so good. Not even a peep. We were so proud! They took us up to the OR waiting room and we talked with the doctor and the anesthesiologist. They put some drugs in her IV and put her on the gurney and we gave her lots of hugs and kisses before she was taken away. The nurse took us to the OR waiting room, where Mama finally lost it. I guess my motherly instincts new I couldn't show Rory that I was upset. But as soon as she was gone, the emotions were overwhelming. After 15 minutes the doctor brought out a penny in a little jar. "She did great!" After lots of hugs, the emotions got to the both of us. After another 15 minutes they took us back to see her. She was drowsy and very glad to see her Mama and Daddy. She downed a whole sippy cup of juice, however when they took the IV/Tape off she became hysterical and again vomited all over Mommy. I was so happy that she drank something that meant we could go home. After cleaning her up and a quick chat with the anesthesiologist. We took our precious baby home! I am sure we were a smelly sight to see...all three of us smelling like vomit. But it was a wonderful feeling putting our sweet Rory Grace in her car seat.

We are so thankful for ALL the wonderful staff at ER Alliance and Cook's! They kept us and Rory calm. I can't tell you how AMAZING they were.

Thank you to all our family who kept praying, asking for updates, and Nana and Papa for driving up to the hospital to check on us/Rory. My mom came up the next day and spent the night just to make sure Rory was okay. She had so see it with her own eyes. :) Thank you Mimi!

She is her wild self during the day, but at night she makes these awful noises with her throat..like she is struggling to breathe. It is not a pleasant sound...but we have been reassured it is normal. After all she did have a coin lodged in her throat and a huge tube stuck down it to pull it out.

Praise God for watching over our little angel! Something tells me this is one of many scary situations our Rory will put us in...she is a curious/spunky little one. :)

We had a wonderful and blessed Christmas Eve. I was so thankful that Greg's family got to attend Christmas Eve church with us. It was a real treat having everyone attend Northwood. We also hosted the fam at our house that night. We enjoyed pizza, dips, wine, and each other's company! We loved having everyone over and Rory sure loved to entertain her family. After everyone left for the evening, Rory, Daddy, and and I set out cookies for Santa and hit the sack. We woke up the next morning and enjoyed our little family Christmas together. I was in Heaven! I love my little family of Daddy, Rory, Toby, and Layla. Looking around brought tears to my eyes. It was a wonderful Christmas Eve and Christmas Eve Morning. :) We spent the rest of the day at Nana and Papa's house in AZLE...pics/post to follow shortly. :)

We had a great time in Georgetown! Thank you to everyone for a wonderful Christmas! Rory received lots of wonderful gifts and so did we, but most importantly we got to spend time with each other! You can tell Rory loves loves to spend time with her grandma's, grandpa's, aunts, uncles, and cousins! She is always cracking herself up! Thank you to Dad/Carlene for hosting our crew....yes Toby and Layla included. :) We enjoyed delicious meals, going to the movie (yes! NYE), Casa Ole, shopping, and lots of family time! We even got to see Nana, Papa, and Auntie Linds too! I am sad though because I took my camera to Cooper's Christmas Program and left the battery charging at the house. (That was the whole reason we stayed an extra two days) It was a cute program and he did awesome! We love ya Coop!

We had a good weekend!! On Friday we had our Christmas party with my Mops group. Love those ladies. We also went to Journey to the Manger at our church...this year was quite different from last year. She was afraid of all the animals and was running around like a crazy person! But we still had a good time...and enjoyed some hot cocoa under the tiki torches and lights. She had more fun running through the Christmas Trees at Lowe's. Seriously...she was squealing and running down each aisle waving "hi" to all the people picking out their trees. So cute! We had fun decorating or tree. Which we put in the office this year...it looks so pretty in the front window. On Saturday I delivered the Christmas Meal to the Haltom City Seniors and Rory got so spend the afternoon with her Nana and Papa. It gave me a chance to clean the house and bake Christmas sugar cookies for Sunday. Sunday we went to church and Maddie and Amanda came over for a gift exchange, play date, and to help decorate the tree and some cookies! We had a great weekend! Hope everyone else did too!!

We had a busy week!! My Best Friend my college, Court, came to visit. We haven't seen each other in over 3 years. (She works on a Yacht in St. Marteen) It was so nice to catch up and Rory instantly bonded with Court. Maybe it was because of all the laughing we were doing! Greg watched Rory while we had a girls night at Cheddar's. The next day we went to the Kolache Bakery for breakfast and to the park. Thanks for coming to hang out with us Court on your short visit to the states! :)

Thursday evening, Reagan came up to visit for Amanda's Suprise Birthday Party! We had a great couple of days shopping and Amanda's party was sooo fun!! Thanks Nana for taking care of Rory. And Happy 30th Birthday to my BFF!!!

Saturday morning we hit the road to Gtown for Lindsey's/Addison's Baby Shower!! We spent the night with Linds and Aaron and enjoyed spending time with Nana and Papa too! We met my Mom before the shower for Lunch at Souper Salads and then went to the Alloway's for the shower. It was gorgeous! Thank you Mimi for being on Rory duty so I could enjoy the gift opening! :) We can't wait to meet our baby Niece, Addison! (due March)

Greg rode back on Sunday with his Grandma and Aunt (he had to work Monday)...and Rory and I got to spend an extra night with PawPaw and Carlene. We enjoyed a spaghetti dinner and Rory and I both hit the sack at 7:30pm. It was a long few days with the only naps being 30 minutes in the car. Yesterday, we hitched a ride back with Nana V. It was a fun ride!! :)

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving! We hit the road at 5:45am Wednesday made a stop to visit my Nana in Georgetown and then headed to my Mom's till Friday! We enjoyed the Turkey Trot, a delicious Thanksgiving Lunch and lots of football! Rory and I went to bed shortly after the Aggie/Texas game started...I really didn't want Rory to see her Uncles and her Daddy in their "intense" state! On Friday Buddy, Fuller, and Greg headed to my Dad's while Mom,Mere, Coop, Rory, and I headed to Kiddie Acres. (My sisters and I had almost every birthday party at Kiddie Acres when we were little....it hasn't changed a bit...the rides are still the originals!) We had so much fun and Rory and Coop loved it! Friday night we had Thanksgiving with my Dad and Saturday Carlene, Mere, Coop, and I went to see Arthur Christmas! It was such a cute movie! I loved it! While we were at the movies, Greg, Rory, and Paw Paw went to pick out a Christmas Tree! We decorated it that evening and watched the Tech game! :( Coop also spent the night and RORY loves her Cousin Cooper. They played together so sweet and she loved when he chased her around the house! It was a great week of family and food! At my Dad and Carlene's Thanksgiving we all went around the table and said what we were Thankful for...Cooper was first....and he said "I am so thankful for RORY!" So sweet...it just melts my heart! Hope everyone else had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Thank you Nana V and Papa J for taking care of Rory last night while Greg and I had a DATE NIGHT!! We used our Del Frisco's gift card (that Mimi got us for Christmas last year) and enjoyed a delicious wine/steak dinner! Afterward we went to Barnes and Noble...it was such a nice and relaxing evening. This morning I really enjoyed watching a movie, tidying up (it's amazing how much you can get done without a toddler around), and I even reupholstered a chair. (This project has been 3 years in the making...ha ha. I only have two more to go.) I love my little peanut, but it is very nice to have a morning to myself every once in a while.

We had a busy and fun week last week...but I didn't take many pics. :( We went to see Grandma and Grandpa on Wednesday for a delicious dinner....Rory loves her great grandparents! And they are quite smitten with her too! We also had MOPS on Friday morning and then Greg, Rory, and I went to Northeast Mall/Toys R US to do a little Christmas shopping. Rory saw Santa and was so excited she kept waving at him each time we passed....so cute! There were NO lines so we might take her this week to see him to avoid the holiday rush!

Saturday I worked the Fall Festival that our church puts on for THE ACADEMY OF WEST BIRDVILLE. ( a Title 1 school) Last year I took pics, but this year I decided to serve food. It was so rewarding...I served with Danielle an 11 year old girl. I took so much away from this...some of these kids hardly ever recieve a hot meal. They were so thankful and appreciative...I take for granted everyday that we have good health, a house, food, clothes, and a loving home. I was so humbled and it made me feel quite selfish when I complain/want things that I don't need. "If we have food and clothing, with these we shall be content." (1 Timonty 6:8) I know I say this so often, but I love our church and all the opportunities they are opening up for me. They have shown me the Grace of God. :) I can't wait till Rory is old enough to serve next to me!

Saturday night I babysat The Clarke Boys and Rory got to hang out with Daddy and Brock and watch the Aggie's go into 4 overtimes. ( I think) She sure likes Brock (Greg's coworker) and as always loves company! :) Sunday--Church, Walmart, and the PARK!! And Monday we drove up to see Terrel, Rachel, and Baby Mason! He is so precious! And Rory loves a newborn baby! We had a great time visiting and I loved holding that sweet baby!

I will have to admit Layla and I used to have a love/hate relationship...as a pup she was a psycho (as all labs are) however I did not know the pup stage lasted 2 years. So when she was huge and still a pup....i was highly annoyed by her. And her dog hair is another subject... However, she has really mellowed out the last few years and since I have been staying at home since April WE HAVE REALLY BONDED!! I love her and I especially love her because she loves RORY!! She lets Rory love, tug, pull, drag, hit and climb on her! All with a mellow and loving personality.. (i would love to know what she is thinking)! Maybe she loves Rory because of all the extra goodies she leaves laying around for snacks! Rory can be having a screaming fit and if I say "where's Layla?" She looks at me with a wondering look and says "Dayla?" and then goes off to find her/torture her...giving me some quiet sanity! She is my saving Grace, our sweet Layla!! I feel having Layla and Toby around has made Rory a loving, nurturing, and fearless. Pets create and instill something in kids that they will have for a lifetime! I am so grateful for my fur balls!!

We had a wonderful Halloween!! Rory loved Trick or Treating and said "bye bye" to all our neighbors who gave her candy..and she wasn't shy about digging in the candy bowls! It was so much fun! She also loved helping Nana and I pass out candy....except when a little boy came dressed with a scary mask! She was not too happy....and continued to stare out the window the rest of the evening with a scared/confused look. :) She woke up at 4:30am the next morning....maybe because of a nightmare of the boy with the scary mask. Muahhhhaaaa Muahhaaa!

Reading with Mama...

We had a busy week! After all those late night Ranger games my sleep time was cut in half. Poor Rangers! :( On Monday I took Rory to Chuck E Cheese...she loves it! However, this was the first time she was afraid of Chucky...she didn't want anything to do with the dancing or the free tickets! She did like to carry her little cup of coins around.:) That night Jamie came over to visit and we cooked pasta and had some wine/girl time, while Greg was lucky enough to attend a World Series game with Papa J! It was a good game! (that one) My brother also came in town for a few days! Rory (and mama) enjoyed Uncle Buddy! Rory loves to poke Uncle Buddy in the belly button! We cooked tacos one night, went to lunch at, and went shopping at Academy for Rangers gear! Nana V and Papa J also came over to watch Rory while Greg, Buddy, and I went to watch Game 6 at BJ's Brew house. Thanks for the spur of the moment babysitting gig Nana and Papa and to Mimi for purchasing our dinner that night. We have such generous families! We also had our MOPS meeting on Friday with a wonderful speaker! A key point I took away from the MOPS meeting..."Parent for the next 18 years not the next 30 minutes!" I really love going to MOPS...I am in a Wonderful group of ladies and I take so much away ever time we get together. It has been a wonderful blessing and helps influence and encourage my walk with God.

On Saturday we went to the Senior Center Marketplace and did a little Christmas shopping while the Seniors oohed and ahh over Rory. Today we went to church and Greg played golf with his friend JJ. (They are in a tournament next week and they "had" to get in a practice round.) While Daddy was playing golf...Rory and I did some last minute Halloween shopping...we went to Michael's, Kohl's, and WALMART (Wow...Walmart is crazy the day before Halloween). I love shopping with my Boo Boo! Until we get in the checkout line...those tend to be the longest 3 minutes of my life! We can't wait till tomorrow and our Monsters INC family costumes! They are adorable!!

We had a fun-filled weekend!! Greg had his big golf tournament of the year so Reagan decided to come up to keep us company. I am sure Greg was very grateful....otherwise I may of been calling him every hour or so..."when you coming home? When you coming home?" Friday morning before Auntie Reagan arrived, Rory and I went with my MOPS group to Homestead Farms. Pumpkins, chickens, goats, pigs, rabbits, and doggies. (out of all the animals there her favorite one was the doggy...of course). We went on a Tractor Ride of the farm and enjoyed seeing all the animals and pumpkins! Friday afternoon we finally got to meet Cousin Jaxson....he is precious and such a good baby! Rory was obsessed and loved having "her" own real baby! She wanted to give him a million kisses! We had a nice girl time (Amanda came over too). Saturday..Reagan, Rory, and I went shopping in the Alliance Town Center and had Zoe's Kitchen for lunch. (i have been wanting to try that place for forever) In the afternoon we went to the park and just lounged around the house! It was a great weekend!! Greg is off today....finally! We had a pretty good weekend!! Friday morning Rory and I headed to MOPS and then Friday afternoon went to Little Sprouts...On Saturday Rory and I went to deliver meals to the seniors in Haltom City. We arrived at the Senior Center about an hour before so the seniors could enjoy the cuteness that is RORY. They love her...it brightens there day so much! She walked around the cafeteria waving at all the wonderful seniors! It made me so happy and proud! We then did our usual route of delivering meals to 5 seniors in Haltom City...she did really well the first couple of houses but after getting in and out of the car she was done...and screamed each time I put her back in the car seat! She still gave a big grin to each Senior we delivered too! I am so glad I joined this ministry....i have made a good friend, Tim Pierce, who started this ministry and has done so many wonderful things! "Serving God by Serving in the community..." is a great motto! He sadly is moving back to California and Saturday was his last day as the Leader of the Senior Ministry. He is such a big part of the center and this ministry and will be greatly missed! :(

Saturday evening Amanda and I went to see FOOTLOOSE and dinner at On the Border! Rory and Daddy had an evening together! Thank you honey! Footloose was reaallly good! I was quite surprised!

Today we went to church and then went to Bear Creek Park to take our Christmas pictures with Clara Beth photography!! Dressing up in winter clothes while it is still 90 degrees outside was a tad uncomfortable but from what I saw the pics turned out great! And of course Rory loved being outside! Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!

A couple weeks ago Jamie and I took Rory to the park where she proceeded to climb the play scape all by herself and go down the slide all by herself too! We were shocked! She even went head first a couple times and face planted but (of course) no tears and she hopped right up and tried it again! Today she climbed up the STEEEPP step slide all by herself (of course I was right behind her...but not helping at all...i promise!) and went down it all by herself! Days like these I am so glad I am a stay-at-home mom!! They grow up so fast and I don't want to miss a second! I love her so much!!

Well my camera lens broke a few months ago...needless to say I was very upset but a new lens wasn't quite in our budget the last month or two. But after posting an update feed on facebook one of my old high school yearbook buddies, Patrick Roppolo, mailed me one of his older lens'. Thank you Patrick...your the best!! These were some of the first pics I took...I will start my Sunday blog again..but I just had to post one today since it has been a while! Today Rory and I baked Pumpkin cookies, went to the grocery store, took a walk, and played outside. It was a relaxing day! Tomorrow we go in for her FLU shot and a fun day at Little Sprouts!! Yesterday for Columbus Day I watched some of my old kiddos from Primrose the Paquette Boys...Rory was there with me half the day! The boys were so good with her...and then Greg picked her up and spent the afternoon together till I got home!! She loves going with me to babysit and hang out with "big kids!"

A few weeks ago one of my best friends from high school (Shannon) got married to a great guy Josh!! It was a great weekend....On Thursday we loaded up the car (Amanda hitched a ride too) and headed to Georgetown. I went to The Oasis for a bridesmaids luncheon while Greg and Rory hung out with Linds and Aaron....it was so nice to hang out with the girls!! After a great rehearsal we headed to County Line for a wonderful dinner...it was a great date night! Thanks Linds and Aaron for taking care of our peanut. Saturday I was pampered with hair and makeup while Rory spent the day with Mimi, Daddy, Amanda, and Uncle Buddy! It was a beautiful wedding and so much fun!! We danced the night away and Rory played the night away at Mimi's!! She loved her patio and Greg loved the running trails too!! On Sunday we stopped by Dad and Carlene's for a quick Hamburger grilled lunch...it was a busy and Wonderful weekend! We are so lucky that family is always willing to love and care for Miss Rory! Thank you Mom, Aunt Linds, and Uncle Aaron!

I am not doing well without my camera....we had a fun filled week too and no photos to remember it buy! :( We attended Babygarten at the library on Monday. Rory loves the library and Ms. Monica the teacher. She is always on the move at Babygarten....she loves digging in other mommies purses to find their IPHONES or KEYS. :) We went to the Safari Park in Southlake and met the Smith girls for a morning of fun! Abigail (5 years old) took Rory down the slides, helped her out of the ball pits and up the stairs ( I realized it will be so easy if Rory is that age when we have our next baby). We also went to see baby Jaxson and my cousin Tori at the hospital! And a Baby shower for one of my old co-workers at Primrose...Rory got to see all her old teachers and loved getting lots of hugs! I also started working with Kelli at Little Sprouts this week....I will be helping Kelli out with her little crew two days a week (of course Rory comes along too). SHE LOVES IT and I LOVE spending the day with my dear friend like the old days at Primrose! We make a great team! We finished Sunday off at church and lunch at Chili's with Daddy and an afternoon playdate with Amanda and Maddie!

Even with this awful heat (we don't know how daddy does it) Rory and I try to get outside at least twice a day...We ALWAYS take our 45 minute stroll to see the turtles at the park (this walk usually occurs within 20 minutes of her waking up...yes we are out the door between 6:45-7:00...otherwise it is way toooo HOT! In the afternoon for less than 30 minutes we enjoy a Popsicle, water the flowers, play in her whale pool, or play fetch with Layla Lou. Have I mentioned our sweet Rory has had 6 new teeth pop up within the last month and a half...3 of those being her back molars....GOOD TIMES!!! Today she only slept for 30 minutes due to the pain...(I think) i feel the 1.5-2 hour naps I have been spoiled with will soon becoming to an end...

We are ready for the FALL...we went to Hobby Lobby yesterday and they already had their Fall/Halloween decor out....it really got me excited. I have already decided on our Halloween costumes....

Before the grooming....he was a fluffy, hot, tangled, ball of fur!!

So in addition to trimming Rory's bangs I have now added dog grooming to my resume!! I bought a nice little grooming kit at Petsmart and may have gotten a little cared away when I started to groom Toby....I started to watch the instructional DVD....but with a toddler...that wasn't happening. So I just decided to shave everything except for his helmet head...it was quite the experience...from Toby jumping out of the bath tub...to chasing Toby around the house and turning around to find that Rory has the razor in her hands waving it around frantically...to Rory picking up the "clean" dog hair and eating the nice fluffy clumps....lessons learned...1) will wait for Daddy to be home before I try this again 2) may go less crazy on the shaving part 3) trim him outside...(he did not want to stay on his designated grooming towel) Ha ha!!

Mimi came to visit for a few days this week!! One day I met her at the Four Seasons spa for some relaxation....we also had an amazing lunch in our room! It was so nice and my first facial! Thank you Nana and Papa for watching Rory. We went to the mall (where Rory was bullied for the first time at the kid area...her Mimi came to her defense), BJ's, Mimi joined Jamie and I on our Haltom City Seniors Meal delivery, and one day Mimi watched Rory while Greg and I went to the movies...Ahhhhh the movies!!! Sprite, Reeses, Popcorn, and a nice cold theatre when it is 100 degrees out...is HEAVEN! Thank you for a wonderful few days Mimi!! I am not looking forward to my mom's school starting and her mid-week visits coming to an end! :(

YEAH for fireworks!

We had a nice relaxing 4th of July weekend! Daddy was at the golf course most of the weekend.(only a few more days till vacation) On Saturday, Rory, Maddie, Amanda, and I headed to Nana V and Papa J's for a day of swimming! It was so nice! Sunday...Rory and I went to church and then did a little shopping for our trip to California! Sadly..I have been out of town every weekend in June and it was so nice to go to church on Sunday. I love our church and every time I leave I am so pumped about God and all the things he is doing in our lives. Rory also loves her nursery teachers too! It makes me sad to think if we ever moved...Northwood would be so hard to leave. :( On Monday (the actual 4th) Rory and I did a bit more shopping for our trip and then we met Daddy at Central Market for dinner and headed to the golf course. Every year that we have lived here (except for one) this has been our 4th of July tradition (because Daddy usual works on the 4th)! Coop has always been a part of this tradition (we missed him) but we had a wonderful 4th! While waiting for the fireworks we played on the golf course....it was a special moment i will never forget...just being out there in the quiet outdoors...Rory running around, just us three together...it was just so special! Hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July! Thank you to all our service men and woman...past, present, and future for providing us protection and freedom to spend these holidays with our families! :)

Last Sunday Maddie celebrated her 2nd birthday at the Trophy Club Splash Pad. Rory loved it and it was perfect for toddlers. She really enjoyed her ice cup and going down the big slide with daddy! Happy 2nd Birthday Sweet Madison! After the birthday party, Nana V and Papa J took Rory for a sleepover while Amanda and I met my sisters and Kimmy for a night out in Dallas. (We attended the NKOTB and Backstreet Boys concert...ahhh.) You wouldn't believe how loud grown woman can get when Donnie Walburg takes off his shirt. :) It was a great night!! My mom arrived Tuesday and left today! :( We had a wonderful week!! On Wednesday we met Greg for lunch and then headed to Grapevine Mills to shop and ride the carousel! She loves being pushed in her stroller and look at all the different things! She took a power nap and then we hit Target for some more shopping!!! Mimi spoiled that baby! On Thursday we met Jamie for lunch at Yucatan Taco Stand and then headed to the Fort Worth Children's Museum! Rory loved it...especially the water geyser out front! I will post a video today! She ran around that place like crazy and couldn't get enough. Friday, I babysat from 8-4 and Mimi kept Rory busy all day taking her to Chuck-E-Cheese and to see all the animals at Pet smart! That night Mimi watched Rory while Greg and I went to On the Border for dinner. It was soooo nice!

Rory loves her Mimi...she followed her around everywhere for 5 days! And couldn't get enough...it was a wonderful 5 days! Mimi- Greg, Rory, and I love it when you come...and we miss you when you leave! Your the best!! Thank you so much for everything!

We loaded up our dogs, kids, and crap (as greg calls it when loading and unloading) and headed to Georgetown for a family weekend. We started off by staying with Linds and Aaron on Thursday and enjoyed some of their yummy fajitas and dips. On Saturday we had a breakfast at the monument and Linds, Greg, Nana V, Rory, and I stopped at IKEA. Rory scored a few new toys thanks to Nana and Aunt Linds. Friday night, Greg, Aaron, Linds, Dad, Carlene, Vickie, Jerry, and Coop hit the Round Rock Express game! (It was too hot and a late game for Rory and I to go. :() And then the rest of the weekend was devoted to pool time and Grilling at Paw Paw and Carlene's with cousins, 2nd cousins, aunts, uncles, grandmas and grandpas on the Dent/Boyd side!!! We had a great weekend!!!

This past weekend one of my best friends, Shannon, had her bachelorette party. Nana V and Papa J watched Rory because Greg had to work (the summer has started so lets here it for 14 hour work days :( poor daddy. So after we dropped Maddie off with her "BG" and Rory with Nana and Papa, Amanda and I hit the road. As soon as we got to Georgetown we enjoyed a dinner and margarita at El Patron and then went to the movies to see Bridesmaids. It was a great date night with my BFF! Saturday we met at the hotel at 10am and hopped on a party bus that took us to 3 vineyards in Fredericksburg. We arrived back at the hotel at 5pm and enjoyed take out and went downtown to 6th street. It was a very fun night! However...i was still in mommy mode because I went to be at 3am and woke up at 6:30am ready for the day! i realize there will be no sleeping in even if Rory isn't there from here on out. It was a great getaway weekend!

Thank you so much to Nana V and Papa J for watching Rory and for my sweet husband who drove all the way out to Azle after working long days to put Rory to bed! I love you honey!

For my birthday my sweet hubby watched Rory while I met my Primrose ladies at BJ's for drinks and appetizers. A storm was upon us shortly after we arrived with hail and tornadoes. We waited out the storm but were forced to close out our tab due to the mgmt afraid people would skip out on their checks if we had to be forced into the freezer. Sirens were going off...we were watching a tornado on the news and we could see the same tornado right outside the restaurant window! It was a very exciting/scary night. Thankfully no damage done and everyone was safe. We are having another birthday/memorial day get together on Sunday with good friends, burgers, water activities for the kiddos, and patio relaxation. Greg has been working in the yard and getting his Garage "man cave" set up! :) We love hanging out in the backyard. more pics to come of that future get together.....

She loves being the center of attention and loves all that loving. I also took Rory to Chuck E Cheese and she LOVED IT! She enjoyed dancing with Chuck and riding all the rides. However she thought all the "balls" were hers. The basketballs, the colorful plastic balls, and the . I think we will be going to see Chuck-E often! We also spent lots of time outside this week...every morning I take Rory on a 45 minute walk around the trails in our neighborhood. We always stop to see the turtles...and now I can't go over this certain bridge without her noticing and begging (squealing) to stop. It is a precious moment...and I treasure it every morning knowing this will be a tradition and something she will remember forever. If it isn't too hot I like to take her out in the backyard for at least an hour in the afternoon. She rides in her pink coup, collects rocks, plays with Layla, helps mommy water the plants, blow bubbles, and sit at her picnic bench. I also love this time...she loves pointing and looking at the birds and she LOVES LOVES Airplanes. We don't live to far from Alliance airport so they are always flying over.

On Saturday, Rory and I went to Nana V and Papa J's for the day. Aaron, Linds, and some of there friends came to to town to hang out by the pool. It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed lunch, snacks, and relaxing! Greg came over too after work and they grilled fajitas!! Rory loves the pool!!! :) I love seeing Rory around family...she is so loved. :)

And we have figured out how to climb and stand on the chimney...however...getting down is another story...

she smiles big when she knows she is doing something she isn't supposed too!!! oh lordy!

it may look like she is throwing a tantrum..but she is not...when she gets excited she waves her arms and head in every direction and lets out an "AHHHH!" (like the sound you make at the dentist)

Perhaps it was me encouraging her to climb the stairs at the shower last weekend....but Rory has figured out how to climb on to the chimney and then reaches for my help when she can't get down. We continue to pull her off...hopefully eventually she will get the picture. (or she will fall and hit her head and never go near it again....)

We made a quick trip to Georgetown/Austin for my cousins baby shower. We enjoyed delicious meals cooked by Dad and Carlene and enjoyed hanging out on the patio Friday and Saturday night. Saturday during the day the girls went to the baby shower and lunch and Greg played golf with his Dad and Aaron. It was a good trip and as always we love hanging out with the family! :)

We can't wait to meet Baby Jaxson in August! :)

We had a great weekend! We started off by going to the Rangers/Yankees game...Greg received tickets through work and we were able to watch the game in a suite. It was perfect for Rory!! She loved listening to the music and dancing...and when she didn't want to sit on our laps anymore she just roamed the suite. It was a great time...and she really enjoyed her first Ranger Game! On Saturday, Nana V and Papa J took Rory for the afternoon while Greg and I went to the movies and had a great dinner at Kirby's with great friends for his 30Th birthday!! It was SO nice!!! On Mothers Day, Greg, Rory, and I went to church..(mothers day is ALWAYS an awesome one) and then we headed to Azle for swimming and a delicious brunch with Nana V and Papa J! It was a great weekend...and a wonderful Mothers Day!!!

We had a quiet (if there can be one of those) dinner at home to celebrate Greg's 30th birthday!!! I made a favorite of his "Italian Grilled Cheese and Tomato Sandwiches" and we enjoyed the most delicious cupcakes from a new bakery down the street. We were not really thinking and gave Rory a bath just before we sat down for our cupcakes. Needless to say she had a "baby wipe" bath afterwards and probably was licking icing of her arms and hands throughout the night. :) FYI SHE LOVED IT and was licking her fingers like crazy making sure to get every last drop. She loves to smack those lips when she taste something she likes! :) We are going out to dinner (Trulucks) this Saturday with friends to celebrate too!!!

I was searching the house trying to find a lighter/matches to light the candle on Greg's cupcake. After about 10 minutes of searching greg said, " really babe don't worry about it." I said..."We have to sing "happy birthday" to show her traditions." We finally found a lighter and sang the "happy birthday" song...of course she clapped and smiled really big thinking it was all for her. I LOVE HER!!!!

This past weekend Rory had her Baby Dedication at church. It was a special day and a special weekend. We started off the weekend by having a delicious lunch at BJ's where Rory could enjoy her favorite food. Then we all came back to our house and the Grandma's, Aunties, and Uncle Aaron watched Rory while Greg and I went to the parent class for the baby dedication. It was a great class...and we were taught how to pray for our sweet Rory using Scripture, we also took a communion together as a couple and read the story of Hannah. It was a nice class and actually felt like a date since we haven't been out together alone in a while. :) We came back to the house and enjoyed staying up late (10pm) hanging out with the fam!! On Sunday we all headed to church and enjoyed a wonderful service and Rory's Dedication to God. A few highlights....

1) it was at 11:15am right during Rory's nap time/lunch and she was very restless...trying to get down, not wanting to be held etc. I gave her my necklace which she began to swing around hitting me and the people near us.

2) she then pinched a little girl in front of us (the mother was unaware) the little girl turned around and all I kept saying in my head was "please don't cry" I began laughing and smiling at the little girl...trying to distract her from the pain of Rory's tiny nails. She bought it...thankfully!

All in all she did a great job, and even gave the crowd a BIG BIG grin when everyone began clapping...i could just here the voice in her head..."All this for me...oh stop oh stop...no no...clap some more."

After the service we all went to Kincaid's for a delicious lunch! Thank you to my Mom, Reagan, Auntie Linds, and Uncle Aaron for making to trip! And for everyone else who attended this special day for us...We love you all!

A Week at Little Sprouts :)

Last week one of my best friends Kelli (she owns an in home daycare) asked me to sub for her for a week while she was in Florida! We had so much fun playing with Noble and Elisa. Rory was worn out everyday...she had so much fun. She has started with the tantrums...and LOVES LOVES LOVES being outside. We go outside often...however when we come back inside she becomes very upset. (she also through a tantrum for the first time in Walmart when I had to take the graham cracker box away from her to scan at the self check out) Good times! Note to self....do not do self check when you have a lot of groceries and a baby....i was frantically trying to find a pacifier in my purse and swipe my card at the same time to get the heck out of there) I am rambling........Anyways....we had a great week at Little Sprouts....we took lots of walks to the park, played in the kiddie pool, and Rory LOVED watching Elisa and I play soccer...everytime the ball hit the fence she laughed and smiled so big. I love how easily entertained my sweet pea is! :) Here are some pics from our week at Little Sprouts. :)
